Car and Driver/NoHotWire Racing 350Z at Daytona International Speedway By: Greg Childs, NICOclub According to team owner Rich Biscevic, the 350Z's engine is now completely sorted and running amazingly. Bosch came through with an upgraded ECU that's allowing the cams to fully activate, and the car is making BIG power out of its otherwise "stock" 3.5 powerplant. Debuting in Daytona on the Z was an especially neat part - Jung Motorsports provided the team with a fully-standalone ABS system. It's a plug-and-play unit, meaning it simply reads the individual wheel sensors, allowing a non-ABS car to have ABS instantly! All the Challenge Porsche 997's use this system, and for approx $3500, it's a no-brainer. SpeedTV provided coverage of the event, and it was great seeing the NHW / C&D car on TV. In addition, its TWO in-car cameras made for some amazing in-race footage: In-Car Video Link The NoHotWire Racing / Car & Driver / NICOclub 350Z finished in the points, 28th in class. While it's not a stellar placement, it's a huge result for the team and very encouraging. Lap times were consistent with the leaders for much of the race. Larry Webster (of Car & Driver) and Rich Biscevic (Team Owner) shared driving duties at Daytona, and they have a commitment from Ken Dobson to drive at LimeRock. The next step will be for the team to raise some capital in order to purchase the now-tested Bosch ECU and harness, as well as some dyno tuning time and transport / support expenses for the race weekend.
